Cedar Mountain just an hour north of St George is a wonderful high altitude destination to view aspen and oak groves in colorful fall display. There are plenty of places to lodge at while your here. Duck Creek and Cedar Breaks National Monument are some of the closest areas to I 15 but if you want to venture out further there is the Kaibab Plateau which is home to the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon. The lower elevation areas such as Zion National Park do not typically see color changes until late fall but the higher elevation areas change in mid September through the middle of October. Navajo Lake is another beautiful area to view the colors:

There is a small ski resort called Brian Head just oustide of Cedar Breaks National Monument that is America’s highest in altitude incorporated town at 9600 feet. The dry Utah powder is wonderful in the winter time. Panguitch Lake is a 1200 acre lake just 15 minutes from Brian Head that offers year around fishing and boating. Ice fishing and snowmobiling on the lake in the winter time are very popular activities. Now is a great time of the year to visit Zion National Park. The leaves are starting to change and the crowds have gone home. There are still some tourists but it is not crowded. Zion and Bryce Canyon are also very close to the Grand Canyon. This time of year all three enjoy cooler temperatures making for a more enjoyable hiking experience. Being out of peak season rates on rooms are more affordable as well. This region of the world has many other great places to visit that are little know. Capital Reef, Calf Creek, Cedar Breaks, Duck Creek, Panguitch Lake and Navajo lake are just a few. Lake Powell is also an amazing destination in and of itself for a vacation. Panguitch Lake Real Estate Update

Panguitch Lake is still low right now and the real estate market at the lake has been slow this year. We are still really busy in Brian Head and Duck Creek, but Panguitch Lake and Mammoth Creek have not been as busy as the other areas on the mountain. They are smaller markets with slightly higher prices but taking the market as a whole, there are still some very good deals at Panguitch Lake right now. Its mid June and the mountains are at one of their best times of the year. The aspen trees are fully out, the grass is green and there are wildflowers everywhere. In the deserts of Las Vegas and Southern California the mercury is in the triple digits but on the mountain it is in the 60s and 70s in the daytime for highs. Brian Head Ski Resort is putting in a high speed quad and a fishing pond. The resort is open for summer  mountain biking and all over the mountain the villages are gearing up for the busy summer season. Panguitch Lake has already given some anglers trophy catches to put on their walls, and Duck Creek Village has a few new businesses and the trail systems are open. Real Estate in Duck Creek has been picking up over the last month and there is still a good selection of cabins.  It won’t last long however. Duck Creek Real Estate market and area update

Summer has come early to Cedar Mountain this year. There was a large storm over the weekend that dropped almost 2 feet in certain parts of the mountains but prior to that the snow was pretty much gone. The roads are dry and passible. There are some great deals on real estate in the area for land, lots and acreage as well as a few cabins left. There are 2 new sandwich shops in Duck Creek, and the other local restaurants your all used to. The Duck Creek area has turned faster than other parts of the nation. Our real estate market is a second home / cabin market and people tended to give their vacation properties back to the bank first. Duck Creek has a few occasional foreclosures left and less than a handful of short sales at any give time. Most of the sales taking place in the Duck Creek Real Estate market are private sales not REO or short sales. Land is still very affordable and there are some lots bordering National Forest, and some bordering water for sale. The Southern Utah mountains are set up under the jet stream and could potentially have a heavy snow year. The farmers almanac also predicts a heavy winter. This is great news for the Southern Utah ski resorts and the lakes and rivers. The fall colors in the mountains here are spectacular and there is still a decent inventory of condos and cabins on the market ready for buyers to enjoy all ski season. Southern Utah is continuing to see declining unemployment numbers, increases in home prices, and decreases in existing inventory. St George and Cedar City are seeing building starting to come back as well as the mountain areas. Brian Head Ski Resort came under new ownership this last winter and we are expecting some nice changes in that area.  In Duck Creek the foreclosures and short sales are basically gone and we are seeing the cabin inventory shrinking.
